Find your Perfect Shade of Pink

Since pink lipsticks are huge this summer and come on, what girl doesn’t love a bit of pink in her life? We decided to do a little pink lipstick review for you all. There’s a pink lipstick for everybody from dramatic fuchsia to sheer baby pink, so don’t worry. I promise you’ll love at least one of these lipsticks and will be rushing out to buy it tomorrow!

Lipstick: Urban Decay lipstick in Lovechild

What they say:  Decadently creamy, long-lasting color, a wide variety of textures and a sweet lick of crème caramel. The luxuriously creamy formula nourishes and protects lips with Vitamins A, C, and E. Hyaluronic Spheres (found naturally in the body) are added to stimulate cellular function, prevent dehydration, and fill-in lines and wrinkles-now

What we say: Lovechild is more of a natural looking pink, suitable for any skin tone. It is very creamy and moisturizing; you don’t really need to apply lip balm before using this lipstick. It isn’t very long-lasting due to this lipstick being more creamy and glossy, however, you can easily reapply without a mirror which is perfect for when you’re on the go. Lovechild has quite a sheer finish so for more colour you’ll need to build it up more. If you are looking for a really bright, noticeable pink lipstick then this isn’t for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for a natural, sheer pink lipstick with a little sheen then this is the perfect lipstick for you!

Lipstick: NARS Lipstick in Schiap

What they say: A pure, creamy lipstick formula for bold colour enriched with vitamin E to increase wearability and keep true colour intact.

What we say: Schiap is indeed the bright neon pink that has been seen on nearly every runway this spring. Schiap is a pretty matte colour so before you apply, exfoliate your lips and put a little bit of clear lip balm on. A great way to exfoliate your lips is to buy a scrub for your lips (like Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Exfoliating Lip Salvation, £10) or just gently brush your lips with a toothbrush. If you don’t exfoliate and all that jazz then you’ll find, as with most matte lipsticks, this will dry out your lips a bit and you’ll get those dry flakes and nobody wants that.  Schiap can be a very intense shade depending on how much you build it up. This lipstick is very creamy with great pigmentation, it’s a pretty colour and great for this summer.

Lipstick: Artdeco High Performance Lipstick in Magenta Mania

What they say: The High Performance Lipstick in its noble, shapely design and with its irresistibly light and supple texture provides a particularly soft and subtle lip make-up with seductive shine.
Due to Max Lip TM, the lip volume is visually increased, while the lips are additionally nourished with Panthenol and Vitamin E.

What we say: Magenta mania is a similar shade to NARS Schiap except it is a more subtle. This lipstick definitely is a high performance lipstick, however I feel this acts more like a tinted lip balm rather than a lipstick, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Magenta mania is more sheer than matte at first but you can keep building up the colour. It is very creamy and glides on smoothly with a bit of a floral scent and taste. As lipsticks go this is pretty long-lasting, the colour (which obviously fades over this time) stays for about 3-4 hours. This lipstick is great for daily wear as it is very moisturizing. I really didn’t notice my lips looking fuller but the feathering was kept at bay.

Lipstick: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Pout

What they say: A luxurious lipstick in matte and cream shades. Packed with vitamin C and E, it’s guaranteed to keep your lips feeling smooth and looking marvelous. Cream shades contain shea butter and a unique moisture complex to provide instant and long-term moisture.

What we say: Pout is a light bubblegum pink. You’ve probably seen that matt bubblegum pink shade on Nicki Minaj or Lady Gaga and might of thought, “You know what? I actually kinda like that shade, I wonder where I could get something like that” Well ladies, the answer is Smashbox. This lipstick is moisturizing, a little bit glossy and not too waxy. It is a little matte with great pigmentation with buildable colour. It has alright lasting power but not very long so apply a clear gloss over the lipstick for extra moisture as well. When you add the gloss the colour stays!

Lipstick: Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in #37

What they say: A highly pigmented, long-lasting lipstick that delivers rich colour in one stroke. Formulated with 50% more pigment than the traditional lipstick, Rouge artist intense gives an immediate true to colour result. A blend of three natural waxes, the creamy texture glides on effortlessly for a long-lasting hold.

What we say: This is a great satin bright coral pink with fantastic pigmentation, it almost looks fluorescent but in a good way. This would look lovely on olive skin tones and tanned skin especially if you want to draw some attention to all those hours you spent laying out in the sun! This lipstick isn’t particularly long-lasting, it lasts a couple hours and after a while it does dry your lips out a bit. Remember to exfoliate lips and put lip balm or primer on before applying this lipstick.

Lipstick: Illamasqua lipstick in Scandal

What they say: A colour-intense lipstick with a highly pigmented formula that glides on smoothly for the perfect pout that stays put all night.

What we say: This is a matte warm pink and when I say matte, I mean really matte. This lipstick is really quite drying so make sure to exfoliate lots and put lip balm on before applying this, maybe put some clear gloss on top as well. This lasts for ages so use a brush for a more even application to avoid having to touch it up. This lipstick is quite high maintenance when applying but it is a gorgeous colour.

Lipstick: Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Ariel

What they say: Shiseido fuses powerful skincare with cutting edge colour technologies to create the ultimate lipstick. Driven by the advance technology of dual optimizing power, ultra-fine satin smooth pearls and super hydro-wrap vitalizing DE, each radiant shade gives lips lustrous, all-day moisture and a protective veil that actually improves texture.

What we say: Trust Shiseido to come out with a technologically advanced lipstick, right? First of all this is very moisturizing without being too shiny like a gloss. It’s semi-matte with great pigmentation and you can build up the colour to your heart’s content or until you get a very bright pink. This lipstick is very creamy and feels great on. The colour is just bright enough to stand out but not so bright that you look like Barbie. This lipstick isn’t the most long-lasting but it’s not terrible, come on you can’t have everything!

Lipstick: M.A.C Lipstick in Girl about town

What they say: Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M.A.C famous.

What we say: Well that really didn’t tell us anything at all about the lipstick but I think we all have owned enough M.A.C lipsticks to know what we’re in for. Girl about town is a very bright pink and is not for the faint hearted. You’ve probably seen this shade on Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian and it looks fabulous on them. This shade suites any skin tone and will definitely make you stand out from the crowd. The pigmentation is great and the lipstick is creamy. I find that after a while it dries out your lips which is pretty much inevitable with the majority of lipsticks out there. This, like any other M.A.C lipstick, is quite long-lasting. If this shade doesn’t quite take your fancy then don’t worry there is a gigantic selection of shades to choose from.
