Flag It!

As the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics are just around the corner, everyone in London town has gone mad with patriotism!

Even top British brands (from high end designers, to the high-street) have naturally joined in with the fashion craze. The likes of Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Mulberry and many more of Britain’s own fashion royalty have created fabulous, one off designs for Selfridges. Plus high street stores like New Look have a hip, new range of Union Jack and London themed T-shirts.

So why not unleash your inner Spice Girl and purchase something from Geri Halliwell’s new line at Next. Her ‘Geri’ collection is Union Jack galore, full of themed pieces, ranging from evening wear (which can only remind you of her one-off original flag dress) to tops, to beach wear. My favourite item from the line is this flag Jersey T-shirt, costing £24.

But what are my three, favourite, must-have pieces from the best British designers and shops for you fashionistas out there?

I am in love with this bargain London Calling tank top from New Look, which is only £9.99!

It is not just about the clothes though, accessorising is another important element to an outfit. It is time to put away your Alexander McQueen skull scarf for now, and purchase a Union Jack Spring scarf, like this Vivienne Westwood masterpiece to perfect an outfit.

Or you can even purchase a pair from the King of tight designs himself, Jonathan Aston, as he has designed a unique pair of crown/Union Jack black opaque tights, which can be bought at TOPSHOP for £15.

Whatever you do though, do NOT wear more than one patriotic item at a time; otherwise the outfit will be over the top, will not look right and is without a doubt fashion suicide!
